A History of the HUGS Foundation

HUGS - Hearts Under God's Sovereignty had been gestating in the hearts and minds of a band of friends who had traveled to Namibia together since 2002. Life was breathed into what was to become a new mission agency during a regular meeting of these friends of Namibia in the winter of 2005. During that summer in 2002 we had been among the more than 200 short term missionaries from Central Florida and other points in America who partnered with Christians in Namibia, Africa, for the purpose of reaching the school children in the remote areas of the North with a message of hope and life. HIV/AIDS had ravaged this sparsely populated country on the southwestern coast of the continent. How could we have known that our hearts would become so connected with people we met? There is no way we could have anticipated the depth of the relationships we would form which God had ordained from the foundation of the world.

                            Now HUGS is a viable agency
                             whose sole purpose is to lovingly
                                come alongside local churches
            and ministries in Namibia (and around the
        world) to bring hope and life to their
    communities and build up the Body of Christ.
